Description
The Victor is a telescoping top with thermostat controlled heater for killing Varroa mites in beehives with out any chemicals. You can order either the 10 frame or 8 frame, the price is the same. Just send us a note if you want the 8 frame, otherwise we send the 10 frame. YOU need to supply a 12v 55Ah SLA battery. That is the kind used for bass trolling motors, or golf carts. To use The Victor: 1. Remove your beehive top and inner cover. 2. Move the brood super to the top of the hive 3. Place The Victor on the brood super 4. Connect the red lead to the red terminal of the battery 5. Connect the black lead to the black terminal 6. The thermostat will show current temp and target temperature in centigrade, a red dot to show the heater is “on” 7. The thermostat will maintain the temperature for 3 hours then Automatically shut off. 8. A full treatment takes 3 hours from the first time the heater switches on. 9. Disconnect the battery 10. Remove The Victor 11. Place the brood super back in its original position. 12. Replace your inner cover and telescoping top. One treatment kills about 80% of the Varroa mites that are phoretic and capped with the brood. If you want to eliminate 95%, you will need to do another treatment in 12 – 14 days. Be sure you have a fully charged battery when you start the treatment. If you do a treatment in cool weather, you may need a larger battery than 55Ah. You should do a sticky board count of your mites the day before you treat to be sure you need to treat. Also, do a count the day of the treatment. The mite drop for 24 hours should be about 4 times greater the day of the treatment. This reflects the phoretic mite kill. The mites that die in the capped brood won’t fall until the brood hatch. That means about 1/12th of them will fall each day after the treatment. By the 14th day you will see a much lower 24 hour mite count. YouTube Video https://youtu.be/VZbwC9Bn8Qw
